Canadian International Autoshow 2014

I usually go to this every since it's close by to where I live. This year was no different, except that I had gone to the North American International Autoshow beforehand... and it made this one extremely boring. I snapped a few pics and just left. I only stayed about an hour. Here's what I was able to snap... enjoy.

University of Guelph Badminton Club Open 2014

This past Saturday, February the 1st, a bunch of friends and I decided to play the Guelph tournament. The competition in this tournament isn't as high as some other tournaments hosted in the area, so call what we play here chillsminton. I was also asked to take photos while I was there, so here they are. 

North American International Auto Show 2014

A few of us decided to go down to Detroit and check out the auto show. We mostly wanted to see the new concept car, the Toyota FT-1. I also wanted to see what the new Subaru WRX STI was like in person. Here are some shots of some new cars. Look forward to next month when I go to the Canadian International Autoshow. This was also my first "outing" or "event" that I took my new Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II IS USM lens. That thing is a beast, but pretty not useful for car photos unless you're standing far away. Since I had it with me, I had to use it so there are a few shots below of the Toyota FT-1 that are zoomed in. Enjoy.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada

I've been meaning to go to this place for a while. I was hesitant because it was a bit pricey in my opinion. It's still new so when I got in, it was nice and clean. The weekends are still pretty rammed. Probably around 1 hour wait to get in, but I decided to go on a Monday night. Still seemed like there were quite a lot of people. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be, but it was entertaining. I was in the gift shop on the way out and noticed some turtle plush toys but then realized I didn't see any live turtles in the aquariums.

I took this picture a while back when I went to Vancouver to see my sister. This is one of her dogs, Scout. He is a handsome dog, but very energetic and hectic when new people are introduced into his environment.

So today I went down to the habour front to go look around and wait for the airshow to start. It was scheduled for 1PM then rescheduled at 1:20. I still didn't see any planes flying around so I just took a stroll and used my macro lens to shoot stuff. This is one of the things I was able to shoot.

I went to Importfest Toronto recently. Thought these were interesting because of the colours. They set them up at the entrance.

Doing an experiment... the last car photo I uploaded got quite a number of views so I want to see if these will get some views too.

Here's my pepper plant but it hasn't grown any peppers yet. This is just the flower. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this guy alive and get some peppers.

This photo has a few firsts for me. This was the first time in my life going into Parliament Hill, first time going up the Peace Tower and the first time I'm posting a photo I shot with an iPhone. I used the panorama function of the iPhone to create this vertorama.

This was one of the places that my cousin and I went to during Doors Open Ottawa.

Pool at An Lam

So here is the pool at An Lam Resort. Probably one of the coolest resorts I've been to. You get your own little villa on the island and there's basically nothing around. You can go hiking and there are activities to do but otherwise you stay here to relax. You arrive to this resort by boat. Just so happens that my dad has a boat that this place rents out for trips. So we arrived by his boat, unannounced.

In the previous photo, I mentioned I was taking in the sights of San Francisco before GDC. It wouldn't have been a complete trip if I didn't see the Golden Gate Bridge. I went on a boat tour to see the bridge and Alcatraz. It was extremely windy on the water. Good thing I had my spring jacket with me. My coworker just had a T-shirt on and he was suffering pretty bad.

This is the first shot I've uploaded that I took with my 35mm lens. I took these photos while I was at the aquarium at Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39. Had some time to kill during the weekend before GDC so I took in the sights of San Francisco.

Petronas Towers

Petronas Towers from up close. I've been incredibly lazy about uploading pictures. I really should try a bit harder. So here's me trying harder. But I probably won't try hard enough to edit the photo, trying to become a better photographer without Photoshop or Lightroom editing.

Canada Day Fireworks

Finally had a little bit of time to import these fireworks to my hard drive.
My friends, cousin and I went out to watch the fireworks. There were three of us with cameras and tripods set up. We took up quite a bit of space considering how many people are always around to watch the fireworks.

No processing whatsoever, just a straight export from Lightroom.
